What is Tari Universe?
Tari Universe is a mining application that lets anyone earn Tari (XTM) by putting their computer’s spare processing power to work securing the network.
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. You run the app, your computer helps secure the network, and you earn XTM tokens for the work it does.
Is this safe?
Yes. Tari Universe is designed to be safe and easy to use, with default confidential transactions built into the protocol.
What is the network warm-up period, and what does that mean for miners?
The warm-up period is an early phase of the network where mining rewards and difficulty are gradually adjusted as more miners join.
What are the minimum system requirements to mine Tari?
Tari Universe runs on most modern computers. Visit the Downloads page for full system requirements and supported operating systems.
Do I need any technical knowledge to mine Tari?
No. Tari Universe was built so that anyone can mine, regardless of technical background. Download it, open it, and press start.
How do I withdraw the XTM I’ve earned?
Your earned XTM accrues directly in your Tari Universe wallet, where you can hold it or send it on to any Tari-compatible wallet.
What’s the origin of the name Tari?
Tari literally means “newly minted money” in Arabic. It also refers to a small gold coin used in the Mediterranean from the 10th through the 14th centuries. Since it was lightweight and convenient to use compared with other coins of the time, it became a popular medium of exchange for everyday commerce. Similarly, we envision the new Tari protocol being commonly used to create and distribute digital assets of all types.
What’s the story behind the Tari logo?
The Tari logo was designed by Office, an iconic San Francisco branding firm. It features two main themes: 1) a “T” for “Tari” centred within a gem, representing the type of digital gems or treasures which will be issued on the Tari blockchain and 2) the shape of a three-dimensional block with a chain wrapped around it (you may miss this one at first glance!), referencing the core technology upon which Tari is built.
