About Tari

A new financial system built to empower builders and creators

Tari is an open, merge-mined digital currency and application platform where anyone can build, own, and exchange value — without permission from a bank, a platform, or a gatekeeper.

Our mission

Money and ownership should belong to the people who create value, not the platforms that sit between them.

Tari started with a simple observation: creators, builders, and communities generate enormous value online, yet rarely control the rails that money and digital assets move on. Tari exists to change that. We are building a proof-of-work network, XTM, and an application layer, Ootle, that let anyone issue, own, and trade digital assets directly — openly, permissionlessly, and secured by real computational work rather than a company’s promise.

What we’re building

Four pillars of the Tari network

XTM: proof-of-work money

XTM is merge-mined with Monero, inheriting real hashpower security from day one instead of bootstrapping a new miner base from zero. It is the base currency of the Tari network and the fuel for everything built on top of it.

Ootle: the application layer

Ootle is Tari’s programmable layer for digital assets — tokens, collectibles, and custom applications — settled back to the security of the XTM base layer through the Turbine burn mechanism that links XTM and XTR.

A community-first network

75% of the total initial XTM supply flows to miners and community incentive programs, and 100% of tail emission after the initial period goes to the miners who secure the network. Tari is built to reward the people who show up and keep it running.

Open and permissionless

There is no company account to open, no application to approve, and no platform that can freeze your assets. Anyone can mine, build, or transact on Tari using open-source software from day one.

How it fits together

One network, two layers, working together

Miners secure the Tari base layer and earn XTM for every block. Builders use Ootle to create applications and digital assets whose activity flows back through the Turbine burn model, converting XTM into XTR and tying network usage directly to network security. The result is a self-sustaining loop: more building drives more burning, more burning ties value back to the miners who keep the whole system running.
