2. Development Environment Setup
⚠️ Prerequisites: Before starting, ensure you have administrative access to your deployment environment and understand basic cryptocurrency security principles.
🔧 System Requirements
- OS: Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+), macOS (10.15+), or Windows 10+
- RAM: Minimum 4GB, Recommended 8GB+
- Storage: 50GB+ SSD for blockchain data
- Network: Stable internet connection
🛠️ Development Tools Setup
Node.js
# Install Node.js 18+ and npm
curl -fsSL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_18.x | sudo -E bash –
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
# Install gRPC packages
npm install @grpc/grpc-js @grpc/proto-loader
# Install additional utilities
npm install axios lodash
Python
# Install Python 3.10+ and pip
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y python3 python3-pip

# Move to system path
sudo mv minotari/* /usr/local/bin/
# Verify installation
minotari_node –version
Mac Os
# Download latest release
curl -L https://github.com/tari-project/tari/releases/latest/download/minotari-macos.tar.gz -o minotari.tar.gz
# Extract
tar -xzf minotari.tar.gz
# Move to system path
sudo mv minotari/* /usr/local/bin/
# Verify installation
minotari_node –version
Windows
# Download latest release (PowerShell)
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri “https://github.com/tari-project/tari/releases/latest/download/minotari-windows.zip” -OutFile “minotari.zip”
# Extract
Expand-Archive -Path minotari.zip -DestinationPath C:minotari
# Add to PATH, then verify installation
minotari_node.exe –version
